Adoption Overview $2,000

Poet

Poet is a lovely thoroughbred-type mare with a graceful presence and a kind demeanor. She’s a true professional when it comes to ground manners—standing tied like a statue and impressing the vet and farrier with her patience. She enjoys the simple pleasures in life: relaxing in the pasture, soaking up a good grooming session, and taking easygoing trail rides.

She thrives with a little extra care in her diet, and with some alfalfa and grain, she maintains a nice weight. Poet is easygoing about routine care, taking oral dewormer like a champ and needing no daily medications.

Training Notes: When tightening her cinch we recommend you make sure she is not hard tied, as she has pulled back when cinching up before. She has a spirited enthusiasm for movement and is learning to channel that energy with balance and ease. Trailering is not Poets strong suit; as she can be forced on a trailer, we are working towards making it a good thing for her and not as much of a struggle for her next adopter.

Poet’s ideal home is one where she can enjoy a peaceful, low-key lifestyle—perfect as a trail riding partner or a wonderful companion for other horses. She’d be happiest in a place where her hooves can stay firmly planted most of the time, as she much prefers life outside the confines of a trailer.

With her gentle nature, sweet personality, and a bit of a comedic streak when it comes to transportation, Poet is sure to bring plenty of heart and a few good laughs to the right home.
