Meet Oregano 🌿

Oregano is a 22-year-old Jenny who came to Layla Rose Ranch as part of the same beloved herd of miniature donkeys surrendered through an act of deep love and responsibility. Her previous owner cared for her and the herd very much but, due to declining health, could no longer provide the level of daily care they needed. Wanting to ensure their continued well-being, she made the selfless decision to entrust them to our care.

As a mature donkey, Oregano brings a calm, steady presence and quiet wisdom to those around her. She is gentle, observant, and comforted by routine and familiar companionship. Oregano has lived her life as part of a herd and continues to thrive when surrounded by other miniature donkeys.

Because of her strong social bonds, Oregano’s ideal home must include another miniature donkey, or adopters should be willing to adopt a pair. Donkeys depend on their own kind for emotional security, and horses are not appropriate companions for miniature donkeys, as they do not fulfill the same social needs.

Oregano would be a wonderful fit for an adopter who values senior animals and understands the importance of consistent care, companionship, and a peaceful environment. In return, she offers a gentle spirit, quiet affection, and the special connection that comes from sharing life with an older, well-seasoned donkey.
