Chicken Nugget is a spirited 20-year-old sorrel mare with a coat that gleams like burnished copper in the sunlight. Despite her unusual name, she carries herself with the dignity of a seasoned horse who has seen two decades of life and accumulated wisdom along the way.
At 20, Chicken Nugger has moved past her fiery youth but retains the alert intelligence and gentle curiosity that sorrels are known for. Her rich reddish-brown coat shows the character lines of a horse who has lived fully, perhaps a few gray hairs around her muzzle and eyes that hold stories of countless trail rides, training sessions, and quiet moments in the pasture.
She's likely a horse who knows her routine and has strong opinions about her preferences, whether that's her favorite grazing spot, the order of feeding time, or which humans have earned her trust. At her age, she's probably become a mentor to younger horses, demonstrating the calm confidence that comes with experience.
Chicken Nugget represents that special category of horse - the seasoned mare who has transitioned from athlete to companion, offering reliability, wisdom, and the kind of steady partnership that only comes with maturity. Her name might raise eyebrows, but anyone who spends time with her quickly learns that she's earned her place as a respected member of the herd.
Chicken Nugget does have Chronic Laminitis and requires glue on shoes/sole pads. She is currently at Harris County as a therapy horse for youth!
