Adoption Overview $5,000

Ruff Rock

Ruff Rock is an absolutely gorgeous, and very nicely built Standardbred gelding that came directly off-the-track. He was well cared for his entire life, and needed a second career.

Ruff Rock needed to be retired from racing after developing a bowed tendon during his training. He came to Lucky 7 Horse rescue in 2025 to begin his rehab. His injury was monitored by the fabulous vets at Anoka Equine Veterinary Services, and then he was cleared for full riding work! The vets say the only things he shouldn't do is harness racing or high-level jumping. Other than that, he should be a fantastic riding (or driving) partner!

Ruff Rock has already begun the process of being started under saddle! He is super smooth and shows some serious athleticism! He will continue to be in a 30-day training program and once he is done, he will be available!

Ruff Rock is available through Lucky 7 Horse Rescue in Isanti, MN. Lucky 7 offers a Standardbred Rehoming Program for owners to safely rehome their retiring racehorses in a way that acknowledges the value of their horses. Off-the-track Standardbreds come with a lot of excellent handling and care, and are extreme athletes. When they are working, they are all “business mode”. When their harness is off, however, they show their goofy personalities! Every Standardbred has their unique set of goofy quirks - some like to twirl their heads, others like to stick their tongues out, and even more like to wiggle their lips! Like most Standardbreds, Ruff Rock comes with these wonderful qualities:

✅Stands tied
✅Cross-ties
✅Trailers like a champ
✅Good for farrier
✅Stands for baths
✅UTD on everything
