From the trainer 8/6/2025
This is Sonic's last required post and final 90 day check in. The last thirty days feel like they've gone by so fast! It's been a month of building and seeing the horse that Sonic has become. He's engaged with a lot more people and riders of all levels, gotten out and about on trail rides and off property. He's showing greater understanding everyday of his work under-saddle and demonstrating where his strengths lie. His mind and acceptance of things that may surprise him or confuse him as well as shenanigans happening around his body is a highlight, and so are his easy to ride gaits. Everyone who's been on him agrees he's smooth to sit and it is indeed a comfy good canter. As he looks for a home- I see strong potential for him to become beginner-safe, but he would for sure suit someone who is competent at all three gaits and wants a horse to explore trails on, do some arena work with and enjoy in all his blonde handsome glory. He's quickly grown a fan club here, and puts smiles on the faces of everyone around him.
From trainer July 2025:
This attractive good moving gelding is available for adoption through the Appalachian Trainer Face Off program. He's going well under-saddle, WTC with three good gaits that are comfortable and athletic. He's shown himself to be a gentleman around the barn, he clips, bathes, ties and crossties, and gets his feet trimmed with no fuss. While Sonic is green, and thus I recommend him for a home where his training can continue to be advanced, he shows strong potential to be a steady partner with no limitations. I would personally delight to see him developed as a fancy little dressage mustang, but his curious, sensible nature would serve him and his new partner in most any discipline. He's become a pleasure to bring along and his sweet attitude has everyone a fan. He will have a further 40 days of training before he is available to approved adopters at the August 23rd adoption event.
Horses are typically located in the Appalachian area, but please inquire about a horse's specific location when you apply!
We are looking to adopt to safe homes.
A history of good horsemanship, the ability to provide sufficient care with good vet, farrier and peer references are important. If you are a first-time horse owner, we will require you to board at a facility for the first year while you learn more about care. We encourage everyone to take advantage of riding lessons.
Foal adoptions require previous, established experience with youngsters.
Our adoption process makes sure you get the right horse for you – it is a no-fail process for finding the right match.
