Finley loves to please, but he can be shy. He needs a rider with confidence that can be beside him through everything. He has come such a long way since I’ve had him. He came to me with a lot of anxiety and nervousness. He’s learned to relax and think through many different challenges. He likes to take a minute to think through things, once he does, he is a very willing, curious horse. Finley can w/t/c under saddle, he can feel very forward or unbalanced at times but settles into a nice frame. He is doing well in the beginning stages of liberty training. Loads well, no vices, buck, bolt, or rear. His little legs are not the best for jumping, and he doesn’t seem to want to. He like trails a lot, and will settle in any order of the pack. If he goes too long without consistent riding, he might pretend he doesn’t remember, but he will pick right back up where he left off within a ride or two. He is very kind. He is such an easy keeper, doesn’t get hurt, doesn’t need grain if he’s got good hay. He does get a little anxious in a stall since I don’t stall him regularly, but this is something he would adjust to.
Adoption fees may be outdated, as a horse may have moved into training, so check us on most current fee. Horses typically adopted UTD on vaccines, dental floats, farrier care and all vet needs.
Horse Locations Typically: West Virginia – Kentucky – Virginia – Ohio – Maryland – PA – NC
Please inquire about a horse's specific location when you apply!
We are looking to adopt to safe homes.
A history of good horsemanship, the ability to provide sufficient care with good vet, farrier and peer references are important. If you are a first time horse owner, we will require you to board at a facility for the first year while you learn more about care. We encourage everyone to take advantage of riding lessons.
Our adoption process makes sure you get the right horse for you – it is a no fail process for finding the right match. adopt here:https://www.wvhorserescue.org/adopt
