Ezra

Ezra is a striking spotted draft horse with a unique personality that will capture your heart once you’ve earned his trust. He is sweet-natured but tends to be a bit standoffish at first, preferring to take his time to warm up to new people. While he may initially be wary of interaction, once you’ve caught him, he stands well and enjoys grooming and handling, as well as standing for the farrier without stocks or sedation with a knowledgable handler. His gentle demeanor shines through when he feels safe and comfortable, and he responds well to quiet, confident handling. 

Ezra has a strong bond with another draft horse, Mocha, who is reportedly his brother, and we suspect they were at some point a driving team. While they can be adopted separately, we would love if they could stay together, and we would offer a discounted adoption fee if they can be adopted as a pair. Mocha can be pastured outside 24/7 with shelter in a herd of geldings.

Due to his more reserved nature, Ezra would require a home with an experienced draft horse owner who understands the nuances of working with larger, sensitive, and flightly horses. Patience, respect, and consistency are key to gaining his trust. Once you have a bond, you'll find that he is a loyal and steady companion. Ezra will be under evaluation to see what he knows in terms of training and what his furture career could look like, so stay tuned for updates!
