NON-RIDING COMPANION. Meet Monterey! This gorgeous little gal is truly something special. She has overcome more than her fair share of challenges in life. Back in late 2016 over 800 horses were seized from a situation of severe neglect. Monterey and her four foals were brought to Colorado Horse Rescue to rediscover life. All of them were wild, untouched Mustangs. At roughly 11 years old Monterey had to learn how to live in a human world, to coexist with domestic horses, and to accept people as her caretakers. It was a long road but with the help of local Mustang trainer, Jessica Dabkowski, this little bay mare has proven to be a wonderful student and an eager participant. The one piece of domestic life that Monterey hasn’t adjusted to is the idea of being a riding horse. This doesn’t mean isn't possible just that it's going to take immense time, patience, and understanding. In the meantime, Monterey is an EXCELLENT liberty horse! She is sound, sane, and loves to play with people on the ground. Set up an appointment today to meet with the one-of-a-kind mare.
