Adoption Overview $600

Delores is an adorable, gaited mare, small in stature, and of Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse type. She arrived in early February with a small feral herd and was very afraid of any contact with humans. She is around 3 years old and smaller than 14hh tall. Delores appears to be naturally gaited and should one day make a stylish mount for a small-framed adult. For now, she is still "feralish" but is in training. She has been led, groomed, ground worked and saddled but does stress out some in training so needs to progress slowly. She's also still quite young so there should be no rush for miles under saddle. She will need a confident person to continue her training; someone with good judgement on when to calmly persist and when Delores needs a brain break or pasture turnout to soak in on the recently gained knowledge to make progress over time. She is not available to adopters without training experience or without a trainer lined up to continue the good work that has been invested in helping her trust and work alongside humans. She would be a worthwhile investment for someone wanting a soft-hearted, low-to-the-ground, smooth mount to grow with over the years and down the trails in the years to come.
