Adoption Overview $400

Bruce Almighty

summer of 2021. During his initial arrival, our staff noticed that he was very flighty and nervous. He also tended to run into things that were clearly in sight. Our veterinarians preformed detailed eye exams and found that Bruce was completely blind in his right eye and can only see some shadows with his left eye. We elected to remove the right eye, as it continued to cause pain and irritation to the poor little man. H Bruce has adjusted well to the eye removal, however, he will require a home with solid fencing to help protect him from tangling up in wire type fencing! Our trainer found that Bruce has some training under saddle, and understands the concept of steering and stopping. We are unsure if he is trained to pull a cart, but he has the potential to do so! We have found that Bruce does not do well with miniature mares. Considering he was gelded at an older age, he tends to hold on to his boyish dreams. Bruce does get along with other geldings quite well, and would do best with a gelding only home or with mares larger than him. We have also found that female donkeys do not suit his fancy and thus he gets along well with them, too! Bruce Almighty will require an experienced handler, as he does have anxiety with both the vet and farrier - and that's the way the cookie crumbles. Carrying Weight: 60lbs (including tack and rider)
